Attorney Karen A.B. Hernandez
Karen A.B. Hernandez has extensive experience in personal injury law. She began her legal career in a corporate firm setting, representing insurance companies in complex medical malpractice cases. She has now chosen to use that “inside” knowledge to strategically represent those injured by the malpractice of doctors – everyday people whose lives have been disrupted by a serious injury that wasn’t their fault.
Karen was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. After graduating from UC Berkeley, she worked as a paralegal in a law office specializing in plaintiff personal injury cases. While she was a law student at Seattle University School of law, Karen worked at a personal injury law firm where she helped people recover favorable settlements.
Karen’s practice is guided by diligence, compassion, mutual respect between attorney and client, and the need for a more equitable legal system and world. In addition to her experience in personal injury law, Karen also has experience as a public defender – standing up to government entities and seeking justice on behalf of people caught up in an unjust system. In Karen’s career, the most rewarding aspect has been getting to know her clients and faithfully telling their story, skillfully weaving the human element into a strong legal argument in order to achieve the best possible outcome. This has resulted in wins that help clients move forward in their lives after facing much adversity.
Karen is active in her legal community, volunteering her time with Filipino Lawyers of Washington as well as mentoring law students. In her spare time, Karen likes to cook and eat delicious food, spend time with her loved ones, enjoy live music and see movies, read, go swimming and running, and explore the great outdoors.
